STARTING 5 Update??

I believe there needs to be a change in the starter five... number one Livingston needs to be playing constantly, and we need to start TO STOP counting so much on SAM. Shaun has found a comfort that if he messes up, Sam will save the day. Livingston needs to play, and needs to learn (even if it means loosing a couple). Cat can stay a starter, but needs to find his stroke. Maggette is a starter. period. To have the "6th man" support off the bench (as an offensive spark) Q can start and Cat come off bench as well as Sam. EB obviously starts, but not MVP status yet! And Kaman needs to sit, while Thomas starts. Only problem, Thomas isnt a natural 5. Thats why Kaman is so vital. Thomas does not feel for center, he and maggette need to share a position. So until Kaman realizes he was paid 52 freakin dollars and wakes up, We are in trouble. but final:
1) S. Livingston (sub SAM)
2) CAT (sub Q)
3) C Maggette (sub Q, also)
4) EB (as beyonce says, irreplaceable ;) )
5) Tim Thomas (Kaman)

Interesting starting line-up; however, I think the starting five needs to stay the way it is. Cassell starts until Livingston earns his spot. Shaun gets plenty of playing time and needs to step up when he's in the game. I do agree that he thinks Cassell will "save the day" if he doesn't play well. In fact, I think Shaun is a bit intimidated by Cassell being there, knowing that he'll be sitting if he doesn't play well. So I think that plays on Livingston's mind at times. The Sacramento game kind of proved this...Shaun knew Cassell wasn't going to be able to play with the ankle injury, so he had the freedom to play. Even if he played poorly, Sam wasn't going to be able to "save the day". Livingston went out and had one of the better games that I've seen him play. He needs to stop worrying and play his game...no matter who else is playing or not playing.
As far as Thomas starting for Kaman...this should happen only in certain situations when the matchups dictate it. However, in order for the Clippers to be successful, they need to get back to the inside-out game. Kaman is a huge part of that game. Give the guy a break...he's only played in 10 games this season. And this was after missing all of the Clippers training camp and pre-season games in the United States. If you watched the Clippers play in Russia, he was one of the Clippers better players over there. So you have to give him a chance to get back into it. I think that you have a bit of a Chris Wilcox "hang-over" and are still thinking that the Cippers should have kept him. However, he didn't fit into this system. He's only averaging about 10 points and 8 rebounds with Seattle while playing about 30 minutes. And the only reason he's averaging that much is because Seattle runs a bit more and he gets a lot of dunks and put backs. He has absolutely no post up game and until he learns to do more than just run, jump, and dunk, he'll be nothing more than just another decent player. Give Kaman a chance and I think you'll be eating some of your words by the end of the season. Go Clippers!

Well if things continue to go badly- why not sit down ALL of the current starters to start the game? Start Shaun Livingston, Corey Maggette, Chris Kaman, James Singleton, and Yaroslav Korelev or Daniel Ewing. It's not a punishment for the current starters but why not shake things up a little- even if only for the first 6 minutes of the game. EB is tired- so why not bring him off the bench? He played 40 minutes AGAIN tonight.
I agree that Livingston needs to play more. Sam sometimes just jacks up shots which does nothing to help facilitate team play, especially considering he's shooting like 15% for 3's. I mean even if the shot goes it might hurt later in the game because guys who haven't been touching the ball as they want (i.e. Tim Thomas & Corey Maggette) become anxious and tend to either put up quick shots or make mistakes when they "finally" (in their mind) get the ball. Shaun rarely shoots long jumpers with plenty to spare on the clock, and once he masters the the mid to short range jumpers/bank shots he's gonna be lethal. Sam is awesome but he needs to cut down on those quick shots.

Shaun is only playing 4 minutes less than Cassell. He's getting the chance to produce and I must say that he's been playing better lately. I do agree that Cassell jacks up too many quick shots and I"m yelling at him from the stands or on the T.V. as he does it. The team play starts with him and he's not being a very good facilitator of the offense. I thnk the team is going to bring in some new blood, but I think it's going to be by a trade sometime soon. I don't kow if it will be a blockbuster but I honestly don't see Maggette lasting too much longer. I've been to about 7 home games now and Dunleavy is constantly frustrated by Maggette's outside shots and lack of defense at times. You may not see it on T.V. but watching the bench from the stands confirms that frustration has set in. We'll have to see what happens.
