The Clippers fell behind by 20+ in the third quarter due to really bad transition defense. When they finally decided to to get back on D the Clippers mounted a spirited rally, only to fall to 4 at the end (box score). Al Thornton did pretty good overall for the Clippers- he lead everyone in scoring with 24 and grabbed 8 boards. He did miss quite a few layups and put-backs so he could've easily had 30 and 10. In the fuzzy webcast Thornton looked a lot like Elton Brand wearing the headband. Al struggled a bit to keep quicker players in front of him and tallied 7 fouls total. Jared Jordan was very impressive. Even though he had just 5 assists, he could've easily had 3 or 4 more if the Clippers had made more baskets. He did a great job penetrating and throwing passes out to wide-open teammates. Guillermo Diaz looked pretty good also with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 dishes- he certainly played much like a shooting guard rather than a PG. He is pretty quick and like Thornton does not hesitate to shoot. Paul Davis did a solid job with 18 and 11 manning the middle with Kaman not playing. Mohammed Abukar from San Diego State really poured it on in the 4th in 3 3's. He finished with 17 and 5. Mike Gansey played well too- drew a couple of charges and hit a pair of 3's. Will Conroy had some nice drives to the basket though he didn't get an assist in limited play.
Overall it was a nice opportunity to see the Clipper draft picks as well as Paul Davis in action. Let's see if we'll see Kaman and Korolev play some minutes on Tuesday.
