[excerpt] Star forward Lamar Odom attended the team breakfast. The good news was that he arrived without the use of crutches. His injured right ankle is encased in a removable walking cast. Odom underwent treatment during the morning practice. Meanwhile, all-star power forward Elton Brand was expected to have his surgically repaired knee examined by doctors in Delaware on Thursday. He hopes to be released to fly to California by the weekend. A second session was planned for Wednesday night. There will be a single mid-day practice on Thursday before returning to two-a-days on Friday. The first pre-season game is scheduled for October 8 in Bakersfield against the Los Angeles Lakers.
