Inside Dish: Miles, Miller both disappoint

[excerpt] Cavaliers SF Darius Miles may be the most disappointing player in the league this season, but the player Cleveland traded to get Miles, Clippers PG Andre Miller, is not far behind. Last year, whispers in Cleveland were that Miller would want a maximum-salary contract when he became a free agent this summer. The Cavs didn't think Miller would be worth it, and it looks like they were right.

Miller has struggled with the Clippers, has not shown much leadership and, word is, some Clippers players prefer playing with young PGs Keyon Dooling and Marko Jaric or with SF Lamar Odom as a point forward. Cleveland got worse every year Miller was with the team, and the Clippers took a nosedive in Miller's first season.

Miller's stock has dropped to the point where, as one Western Conference general manager says, "He'll wind up getting a midlevel exception but probably not more." And Miller is already in his prime -- he turns 27 next month. . . .

"word is, some Clippers players prefer playing with young PGs Keyon Dooling and Marko Jaric or with SF Lamar Odom as a point forward." If that's really the case why wouldn't Gentry (as a player's coach) grant their wishes.

Yeah- I guess with Miller's achievements and all coming in Gentry felt obligated to really play him and hope he'll improve. But I think at least he really needs to consider playing someone else to finish off games that are close.

Yup, Gentry is hoping Miller would rebound... Just like holding onto telecom stocks and hope they'll go back to their peaks 3 years ago...

Why hasn't he been playing Jaric lately?

The only way that Miller, Jaric and Dooling all see time on the floor along with those 3 SGs is to move Odom to 4 and Brand to 5. No other way...

That'd be an interesting, small-&-quick lineup....

I personally don't like the small lineup that much, because I think Brand struggles rebounding wise at C. But they have 6 guards who all deserves PT! I hope they trade Miller for Nazr Mohammod b4 thursday's deadline.

Gentry probably thinks the same and that's why we haven't seen Brand at center too much. So you think the Clippers need a center? I think whoever the Clippers stick in there- Parks, Rooks, Ely, etc.- can do the job. I'd prefer a trade of Miller for John Stockton :-).
