The outmanned Clippers simply didn't have enough talent to win tonight as fell 102-85 (box score) to the Lakers. The Clippers played a great first quarter but then the second quarter was really their downfall. Instead of taking full advantage of the Lakers poor shooting and sloppy play the Clippers managed to only outscore the Lakers 14-12 in the second quarter. The Clippers could've easily been up by 15 or more at the half if they had executed better. Then in the second half the Clippers failed to properly defend Shaq. Indecisive double and triple teams just don't cut it against Shaq. You have to go at him hard and make him give up the ball, and the Clippers didn't do much execept foul. Odom, who really needed to step up tonight, just couldn't get it going tonight as he scored only 12 points in 36 minutes.
CLIPPERS 109 - LAKERS 95: CHRIS PAUL COMMENTS - GARY G, IVNEWS
The Clippers didn't play a good second quarter either- they just hung around w/ the Lakers when they could've jumped all over them and be up way more at the half. But you knew that the Lakers were going to come storming back.
Yep! I hate the lakers!! they think they are soo cool,
with shaq trying to run the ball down the court and all. he dose that only against the clippers, will i cant even say, they won cuz brand and maggette & kandi were not playing, cuz they beat us even when we had them playing. And as far as all those laker fans that were at that game, and it was a clippers home game, really sucked!! but guys i have see worse, down here in San Diego when i went to see the chargers raiders Game.. it was like 55 60% raiders fans.. the chargers lost that game, and i think all of those raiders fans had to do something with it. things like that just takes the life out of the home team's game.
As we are getting closer to the end of the season i cant help that i am afraid of this summer.. it could be the time we might lose some of our favorite clippers. to me it is really hard to picture that, but i have learned this season.. that their needs to be some serious shake up this summer to make the clippers a serious team, and get in to the playoffs strong! and finally maybe we can beat the lakers!!!
And that would be the happiest day and clippers season of my life!
Yeah all those Laker fans in the building- that was kind of annoying. I think a lot of people they were just woooing and ahhing because of some of the plays by Shaq and Kobe, and those plays kind of energied the Laker fans and they made more noise. But yeah still it was pretty bad. It certainly would've been more of a Clipper crowd if the team was in the playoff race. I really thought the Clippers were going to be able to go toe-to-toe w/ the Lakers this season, but nope, not even close.
I like to point out that in the 2nd half, Odom called for the ball many times and Miller ignored him and tried to do his thangs, like drove to the hoop then kick out to Rooks or Parks for a 20-footer; or shot a runner and missed; or even worst drove and lost the ball. When Odom got fed up in the 4th quarter, he gave Miller a shove in the back on the defensive end after Miller had just turned over again. It's like Odom saying to Miller, "you better play some D now, you ball-hog!"
I don't know if you guys agree with me or not. But I think Odom is the go-to-guy now that Brand is hurt.
For sure! Odom is the man. Miller is the worst thing that happened to the clippers this year.. why i say that? cuz last year the clipps had the fast brake running game, and won games. however This year Miller just slows down the the team, every time in fast paste action! and the clips dont get to score.
that is why clipps score more when marko is in the game! cuz he is that quick fast paste type of guy.
i wish the clippers would of traded miller before the deadline and got someone who would fill in the spot or another better!!! this summer he might go, and out of all this we lost milles and had the season from hell :(
You know what- I noticed the exact same thing! It didn't seem like they were getting along and it looked like Miller was purposely not giving Odom the ball. I didn't notice the shove, however. To Odom's credit he did throw a long pass to Miller on a fast break in the second half despite all that. But then late in the game I guess Odom was frustrated so he started to try to do it himself, and often times that's not for the best. But Miller definitely didn't play like a team poing guard last night despite having 7 assists.
I have noticed, a few games back, it seems like Miller just gets this look like he's determined to take the shot whether it's the best shot or not. And most of the time it was not. I guess he's trying to showcase himself for this summer.
Speaking of Jaric, I also noticed at one point Johnson yelled at Jaric after he threw an errorone(spelling?) lob pass to Wilcox. I just hope Johnson would do the same when Miller turns over. Just be fair, man!
